Will:

A will is a legal document outlining the distribution of a person’s assets and property after their death. It must be signed and dated by the person to whose assets and property it applies and witnessed by at least two other people depending on state law. The relationship and number of signing witnesses varies from state to state.

Living Will:

A living will is a document designed to lay out guidelines for personal care of its signer in the event of serious illness or injury. The living will names a proxy or representative who will make decisions about proper care of the ill or injured person based on the guidelines of the document. The basic language of the living will is usually a standard set by state law and offers choices about issues like life support, preferences about certain medical procedures, long term care, and resuscitation.

Power of Attorney:

A power of attorney is a document signing over certain decision-making powers normally held by its writer to another person. There are several kinds of power of attorney documents. A general power of attorney gives authority over a broad range of personal and/or financial subjects and may remain in effect for an extended period of time. A limited power of attorney gives authority over only specific aspects of its signer’s affairs and for short period of time.
